Meet Dr. Amy Deutsch

Chiropractor Contoocook, Dr. Amy DeutschCombining Science and Helping People

While growing up, Dr. Amy always enjoyed her science courses. When the fitness craze of the 1980s rolled around, she developed a passion for exercise. She combined the two into a degree in exercise physiology and began working at a health club. One of her duties was teaching a cardiac rehabilitation class, working with high-risk individuals. “I thought it was a shame that something so terrible had to happen to motivate people to want to get healthier”

When Dr. Amy saw an ad in the local paper advertising for a chiropractic assistant position, she jumped at the chance. Through her new job, she was introduced to the idea of wellness chiropractic rather than symptomatic relief. She got to witness numerous people walking into the office feeling poorly, then walking out healthier and happier.

The chiropractor she worked with even adjusted children, which she had never heard of before. One day, he invited Dr. Amy to put her hands on his spine and see what it was like to adjust someone.

I had such a rush of well-being. I got such personal satisfaction from touching his spine. That was a turning point for me.

A Well-Rounded Education

To gain a chiropractic education, Dr. Amy attended Parker University in Dallas. She chose this institution because of its rich chiropractic philosophy and teachings within a myriad of chiropractic techniques. In addition to her Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Amy has a Master’s degree in counseling, which she feels helps her to better understand and relate to others. Her bachelor studies concentrated heavily on nutrition, and she feels it’s important that her patients are given information on positive lifestyle changes, such as good nutrition and healthy exercise, which are both important complements to chiropractic care.

An Active, Abundant Lifestyle

Dr. Amy loves to stay active walking or hiking with her Golden Retriever, Sachet. You’ll likely see Sachet around Aurora Chiropractic Health Center. Dr. Amy has designated Sachet as Official Greeter. Dr. Amy keeps active by swimming laps and working out on her favorite piece of cardiovascular equipment, the Stair Climber. She and her Goldens enjoy training and showing in Obedience, Agility and Tracking, which are all American Kennel Club activities.

You might have seen Dr. Amy participating in the Concord Community Chorus. She finds choral singing uplifting and looks forward to singing “The Messiah” every Christmas season. She enjoys flower gardening, although the flowers are so beautiful in the Spring, she has to remind herself not to plant more than she can maintain.
